Birdshot Community Shows Support for AI Study!

Two weeks into its 5th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign, Birdshot Uveitis Society of North America is grateful to announce that it has collected more than 30% of its $45,000 fundraising goal!

To date, generous supporters have donated a total of $13,651.00, all of which will go toward a birdshot-specific study at Johns Hopkins. This investigation will be led by renowned Johns Hopkins Birdshot Specialist Jennifer E. Thorne, MD, PhD, whose team will collaborate with the Johns Hopkins Data Science and AI Institute.  The goal of the study is to collect and assess countless characteristics of scans to develop a foundational AI model of birdshot uveitis.

Two weeks ago, BUSNA informed the birdshot community of its commitment to this project. Since then, the volunteer-run nonprofit has shared a blog post, two newsletters, and numerous social media posts informing its many followers about the study and asking the entire community to help fund the project. So far, 44 donors in four countries – USA, Canada, UK and Australia - have contributed to the campaign. The average donation is just over $300.00. The mean donation is around $100.

Christine Griffith, President of the volunteer-run nonprofit, says, “Big goals require bold moves, and it is thanks to you, our Birdshot community, that we are meeting our goals… Your help is still crucial to our success.”

BUSNA encourages all to become part of this unique study. Please visit BUSNA’s donation page in order to make a contribution.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for your support.
