Mark your calendar for Birdshot Day 2024!
BUSNA's first official Birdshot Day will be held April 6, 2024 at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia! Stay tuned for details.
In 2019, before BUSNA was established, Christine Griffith
hosted a Birdshot Day in Philadelphia. It was an amazing gathering of birdies, medical professionals and tech reps. Within a year of this Birdshot Day, BUSNA was formed as a 501(c)3 to support people with birdshot uveitis.
Spring Fundraiser
Each spring BUSNA holds a fundraiser to support birdshot research. This year we are offering large BUSNA tote bags in honor of Earth Day. Two tote bags will be sent for each $25 contribution. The event will run April 15-23, 2023. Stay tuned for more details!
Last year we held a birthday calendar fundraiser. Each of the photographs featured in the calendar were taken by "birdies".
In 2021 we held a "Spring into Bloom" Auction. Supporters bid on a wide variety of items that had been donated to BUSNA.
Walktober 2022
Each step taken during our first Walktober event represented a commitment to wellness and daily walking.
Each participant set a goal and challenged him or herself. Thanks to all those who joined us, including friends and family members!
Research Webinar
On Tuesday, October 25,2022, BUSNA hosted Jennifer Elizabeth Thorne, M.D., Ph.D. on a well-attended webinar. Dr. Thorne updated us on her recent birdshot uveitis research!
Dr. Thorne is the Cross Family Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, where she is also chief of the Division of Ocular Immunology. She holds a joint appointment as professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
T-SHIRT SALE
In February we held our second annual t-shirt sale to commemorate Rare Disease Day 2023. Thank you everyone who supported this project. All proceeds will go to birdshot research.
The Gathering
We love hosting this year's casual online gatherings in which a we chatted about our birdshot concerns. Our virtual meet-ups were abundant in friendship, support, and shared experiences.
We held our most recent Gathering on March 5, 2023. Plan on joining us for our next virtual event later this spring!
Autoimmune Community Summit
An Autoimmune Community Summit was held this past October 21-22. It was a free 2-day event of virtual presentations by leading autoimmune experts.
Many attendees to the summit visited our booth in the virtual Exhibit Area where we shared information about Birdshot Uveitis with other autoimmune patients.
